Stone Inlay Work

A technique most commonly known from the Taj Mahal, stone inlaying is a complex process requiring highly skilled stone craftsmen who are specifically trained in this art.

Inlay work in natural stones is a historic art in which precious stones like turquoise, lapis, coral, jade and onyx among others are inserted into the base stone.

Rare metals such as brass and silver are also inlayed into stone. Among the more premium categories of stone inlays is the mother of pearls, where pearls are inserted into the selected base stone for added opulence.

How It’s Made

• Decide upon a base stone
• Choose material for inlay (Precious stone, metal or pearls)
• Select size required (Small size inlays can be manufactured in house and delivered in their final form, however larger flooring slabs our teams will need to visit the area in question)

Customers may also provide us with reference photographs for their choice of design, and our team will endeavor to replicate these as far as possible.
